In 2016, Super Bowl 50 aired on CBS. As part of the off-air creative team at CBS Sports Network, we worked on designing assets to promote the big game including materials for marketing activations, social media graphics, email blasts, and on-site graphics for print and digital display.
Working with the marketing department, I designed infographics and email graphics that would be sent out through the PR department 50 days leading up to the big game. This marketing effort was titled "50 to 50", with the goal of creating buzz and anticipation among CBS sponsors and partners.
Being in it's 50th year, the theme for Super Bowl 50 was the color gold, with footballs turning gold as well as the NFL logo, 50 yard field marker, and parts of team uniforms.
We wanted to emphasize this golden aspect in the design of our infographics and email communications. We worked with assets and style guides provided by the NFL. We also used screenshots and images used by CBS in their primetime Super Bowl 50 ads.
My goal was to create a design that was gold, glittery and indulgent of the big upcoming moment, but also clean and legible. I wanted to reference the legacy of the event, by using old black and white photos. Additioanlly, I wanted to find a way to incorporate golden elements that would be found on the field during the game, such as the field marker and cameras which would capture all the moments.
